The Royal Brunei Armed Forces held rehearsals for the upcoming international tattoo at the Taman Haji Sir Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital yesterday morning.
The colourful extravaganza will feature military bands from 12 nations and incorporate martial arts, music, cultural and military performances. The evening performances will be held for four days beginning July 29, at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas to commemorate the 60th birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
More contingents from participating countries safely landed yesterday. The advance party from Malaysia, Lt Cmdr Khairel and Maj Abd Razak, arrived at noon on board Royal Brunei Airlines. Participants from Thailand landed soon after, comprising 70 army personnel.
The delegates were greeted by BIT 2006 Liaison Officers. Their arrival was greeted with the beats of the hadrah in the background. All delegates were presented with 'bunga telur' by ladies in Brunei traditional attire.
Later in the afternoon, 68 participating delegates from Australia touched down at the Royal Brunei Air Force Base. Meanwhile, the second participating group from Jordan numbering 22 delegates landed at the Brunei International Airport.
More participating contingents are expected to arrive within the next few days.
