Indonesian First Lady tours Kampong Ayer

Meanwhile, the wife of the Indonesian President had a separate itinerary. Datin Hajah Ani Bambang Yudhoyono, Tuesday morning went on a sightseeing tour of Brunei’s famous Kampong Ayer. Datin Hajah Ani was accompanied by wife of the Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Datin Hajah Masnah.

Datin Hajah Ani was welcomed at the Royal Custom Wharf by the Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Adanan and wife. Datin Hajah Ani seemed to enjoy the fascinating view of the water settlement comprising 28 villages, which is full of historical and cultural interests. Around 30 thousand people live in Kampong Ayer which has facilities such as retail shops, mosques, schools, medical clinics and even petrol station, all perched on stilts over the Brunei River.
