Tuesday, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Indonesian President began their day with an early morning walk which they used as an opportunity for further discussions. His Majesty was welcomed at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong by the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office, Pehin Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Yahya. Also joining His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince; and His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The Monarch later greeted His Excellency Dato Laila Utama Doctor Haji Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on his arrival. The two leaders set off on their walk around the grounds of the Empire Hotel and Country Club to the coolness of the morning air and mist. After about an hour’s walk, His Majesty and His Excellency stopped at the Cafe Bunker for breakfast. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1984, Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia have seen steadfast development supported by a sincere friendship cherished by the peoples of both countries as well as mutual respect that emanates from centuries of shared history.
