Tuesday evening marked another milestone in the local musical industry as Brunei's premiere radio station, Pelangi Network 91.4FM, launched the Rentak 914-Vol 2, which is a compilation album comprising 15 of Brunei's hottest and most requested locally composed songs. The event was held at the International Convention Centre.
Present at the launching ceremony were Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah and YAM Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pg Anak Hj Abdul Rahim, who consented to officially launch the album.
After the launching ceremony, Hj Mohd Yusof bin Hj Abd Rahman, Director of RTB, and his spouse presented a 'pesambah' to Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah and YAM Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pg Anak Hj Abdul Rahim.
Showing immense support for the local music industry, members of the public turned up in large numbers at ICC to witness the launching ceremony and to purchase the new CD.
The highlight of the evening was the two-hour concert performance by local artistes featured on the Rentak 914-Vol 2 album. They included Ak Amilin, Putri Norizah, D' Fyn Boyz, Adi feat Lo Ryder, Maria, Avantgarde, Milin & Dk Salbiah Faisal, Hikari 8 and Posessif 79.
Adding to the glamour and glitter of the event were the top three finalists of P2F - Zul F, Bombay and Juju.
The Rentak 914-Vol 2 compilation CD is a follow up to the first volume, which was released in 2004, with immense success. Pelangi Network continues to keep its promise to support the local music scene by hosting various projects to help local artistes gain recognition of both local and international audiences.
The CD was on sale at a promotional price of $12 per copy during the launch. Public members can still obtain a copy of the limited edition CD at Pelangi's office on the third floor of RTB's building in the capital at the original price of $15.
Pelangi Network expressed its appreciation to the public for their support and thanked the main sponsor, Harley Davidson of Brunei, for their huge support to the project, as well as other sponsors including CF King Enterprise, Masamichi Studio, Onas Musical Production and Nescafe Classic Arabica.
