Capital comes alive in colour
By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Neon lights will flood the capital and its streets tonight, turning them into a colourful garden as the nation sets to celebrate His Majesty's 60th Birthday two weeks from now. The transformation will also see arches and banners set up for a more festive atmosphere.

The hoisting of a big national flag is also set to take place this morning in the open court area near the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah in BSB, marking the commencement of related activities.

Meanwhile, congratulatory arches have been erected in various strategic locations, including Jalan Tutong and Jalan Gadong. Government ministries and departments as well as companies in the private sector are also contributing to the efforts and constructions.

The benevolent ruler has always been in the limelight and Bruneians really feel taken care of. His Majesty also makes it a point to visit every district during the annual celebrations. - Borneo Bulletin (1st July 2006)
