Beauty contest for Pasar Ria stalls
By Za'im Zaini and Azaraimy HH

The most attractive 'gerai' (stall) competition is one of the highlights of the 'Pasar Ria' held in Bandar and Taman Jubli Perak in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 60th birthday celebrations.

Judges comprised not just committee members but also representatives from the public and private sectors. A Borneo Bulletin reporter was among those given the honour to be one of the judges.

The judging was carried out last Monday night, based on attractiveness, cleanliness, wiring connection for electrical appliances and arrangement of equipments at the stalls.

Twenty-four stalls participated in the competition, 16 stalls in front of the Royal Regalia Building and eight at the Taman Jubli.

A prize presentation for the winners will be held on July 22. The 'Pasar Ria' night stalls will be open till the end of the month. - Borneo Bulletin (19th July 2006)
