The Temburong District will today open its arms to welcome His Majesty the Sultan and the Yang Di-Pertuan for a get-together with residents of the district, in conjunction with His Majesty's 60th birthday celebrations this year.
And residents of Temburong have lined up a colourful programme to commemorate His Majesty's birthday as well as his visit, which gives thousands of "rakyat" in the district the chance to meet and convey their best wishes to their monarch personally.
Soon after his arrival in Bangar, His Majesty and the royal entourage will make a brief stop-over at the official residence of the District Officer, before proceeding to the royal dais at the Belalong complex, to be greeted by students lining up the route, waving flags, to beat of "hadrahs."
His Majesty's arrival will be saluted with three cheers of "Daulat Kebawah Duli Tuan Patek" by representatives of community and indigenous groups in Temburong, followed by a welcoming address by the District Officer, Pg Abd Harris bin Pg Hj Shahbudin.
Soon after, His Majesty and his entourage will be treated to a colourful cultural performance put up by the district's residents themselves. The theme of the show will be called: "Imbasan Kenangan Di Bumi Hijau" (Memories from the Green District).
Then, His Majesty and other members of the royal family will mingle - and interact - with his subjects, in the highlight of the day. The royal entourage would also view exhibits on display, before His Majesty officiates the "Taman Gemilang 60" memorial, a gift from the Temburong residents to His Majesty, on the occasion of his birthday.
