His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam Sunday afternoon arrived in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates for a three-day State Visit.
On arrival at the Abu Dhabi International Airport, His Majesty was welcomed by his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of Armed Force and Executive Chairman of Diwan.
Also present to greet His Majesty were His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates; His Highness Lt-General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior; His Highness Sheikh Masnour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs; His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Her Highness Sheikha Lubna binte Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Economy; Mohammad bin Dhaen Al Hameli, Minister of Energy; Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi. Minister of Social Affairs; and Dato Paduka Hj Adnan bin Hj Zainal, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the United Arab Emirates.
His Majesty's State Visit began with a welcoming ceremony at the airport, where he received a guard of honour mounted by the Royal Guards. His Majesty was then introduced to members of the Royal Family and other senior government officials from the United Arab Emirates.
In the United Arab Emirates, His Majesty will make visits to Abu Dhabi and Dubai. While in Abu Dhabi, His Majesty will attend a State Luncheon hosted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in honour of His Majesty's visit to the Emirates.
On the way to Dubai, His Majesty will stop over at the Royal Mausoleum to pay respects and to offer special prayers to His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late Emir of the United Arab Emirates.
While in Dubai, His Majesty will visit the Dubai Police Academy and the Emirate Office Towers. The last programme for His Majesty will be the four-eye meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.
This is the first State Visit of His Majesty to the United Arab Emirates. His Majesty made a working visit to Abu Dhabi and Dubai in April 2000. The State Visit will further enhance the warm and friendly relations between the two countries that exist since the establishment of diplomatic relations on May 28, 1992.
