His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to bestow titles and present medals to 56 people during the ceremonious Audience and Investiture Ceremony yesterday morning.
Held in conjunction with His Majesty's 60th Birthday yesterday, the ceremony took place at the Singgahsana Indera Buana of the Istana Nurul Iman. Among the recipients were Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, senior government officers as well as prominent business figures.
The investiture ceremony began with the bestowing of the "Darjah Setia Negara Yang Amat Bahagia Darjah Pertama (P.S.N.B.)" that carries the title "Dato Seri Setia" upon the Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Paduka Awg Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Awg Mohd Yusof followed by Minister of Health Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Paduka Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman, Minister of Development Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Paduka Awg Hj Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar and Minister of Energy Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Paduka Awg Hj Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar.
Next were the Minister of Finance II, Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Paduka Awg Hj Abd Rahman bin Hj Ibrahim, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Paduka Awg Lim Jock Seng, and the Private and Confidential Secretary to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Paduka Hj Awg Mohd Nawawi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Hj Awg Mohd Taha.
The "Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei Yang Amat Mulia Darjah Pertama (S.P.M.B.)" that carries the title "Dato Seri Paduka" were bestowed upon the Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Dato Paduka Awg Hj Mohd Eusoff Agaki bin Hj Ismail, and the Deputy Minister of Defence, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Col (Rtd) Dato Paduka Awg Hj Mohd Yasmin bin Hj Umar.
Pehin Orang Kaya Ratna Setia Dato Paduka Hj Awg Abd Hapidz bin Pehin Orang Kaya Laksamana Hj Awg Abd Razak, a prominent local business figure, was the sole recipient of the "Darjah Setia Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bahagia Darjah Kedua (D.S.N.B.)" that carries the title "Dato Seri Setia".
"Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei Yang Amat Mulia Darjah Kedua (D.P.M.B.)" that carries the title "Dato Paduka" was meanwhile awarded to 24 recipients comprising senior government officers and prominent business figures in the Sultanate.
Leading the list of this medal's recipients was Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Awg Goh King Chin, who was followed by Begawan Pehin Khatib Awg Hj Abd Wahid bin Hj Besar, Begawan Pehin Khatib Awg Hj Ahmad Hj Abd Razak, Pehin Kapitan China Kornia Diraja Awg Lau Ah Kok, Penglima Diraja Awg Abd Rashid bin Hj Ibrahim, Awg Hj Idris bin Hj Abas, Awg Hj Kamis Hj Tamin, Awg Mustappa Hj Sirat, Awg Hj Shofry Hj Abd Ghafor, Awg Hj Jemat Hj Ampal, Awg Timothy Ong, Awg Hj Abd Salam Abd Momin and Awg Hj Alikhan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Md Yusof.
Next were Awg Hj Ishaaq Hj Abdullah, 189 Col Pg Hj Rosli Pg Hj Chuchu, Col (L) Hj Joharie Hj Metussin, Awg Hj Sumadi Hj Sukaimi, Awg Hj Ahmad Hj Dullah, Dr Hj Abd Latif Hj Ibrahim, Awg Hj Muslim Hj Burut, Awg Hj Noordin Md Yussof, Dyg Hjh Maimunah Dato Paduka Hj Elias, Pehin Manteri Bini Dyg Hjh Aminah Hj Md Yassin and Pehin Jawatan Bini Dyg Hjh Siti Hj Mohd Yusof Khan.
The title of "Darjah Seri Ugama Islam Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bersinar Darjah Ketiga (S.S.U.B.)" were bestowed upon Awg Hj Japar Hj Mat Dain @ Hj Maidin, Awg Hj Mazanan Hj Yusof, Sheikh Hj Abd Khalid Sheikh Yahya, Awg Hj Abd Wahab Hj Sapar, Awg Hj Nayan Hj Sisa, Awg Hj Mohammad Garing, and Dyg Hjh Aminah Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Hj Mohd Yusof.
Concluding the list of medals was the "Darjah Setia Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bahagia Darjah Ketiga (S.N.B.)" where the medals were presented to 15 recipients, namely Dr Hj Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Awg Hj Azahari Hj Ahmad, Awg Hj Mohd Yusof Hj Abd Rahman, Awg Hj Abd Ghani Hj Omar, Awg Hj Md Zain Hj Abd Ghafar, Awg Hj Abd Gapar Hj Abdullah, Snr Supt Pg Hj Asli Pg Hj Ismail, Supt Hj Abd Murad Hj Abd Hadi, Awg Rasani Hamid, Pg Hj Jadid Pg Hj Omarali, Awg Hj Md Razali Hj Johari, Awg Lim Seng Kok, Awg Ang Ping Hui, ACP Hjh Sharifah Salmah Dato Syed Hussein Alkaff and Pg Datin Hjh Noraini Pengiran Dipa Negara Laila Diraja Pg Hj Abd Momin.
Yesterday's ceremony concluded with a Doa Selamat read by the State Mufti. Also in attendance at the ceremony were Pengiran-Pengiran Cheterias, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Councils, Deputy Ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin-Pehin Manteri, Manteri-Manteri Pendalaman, Diplomatic envoys, Permanent Secretaries and heads of government departments.
