Their Majesties arrive in Bangkok

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Saleha arrived in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday afternoon to attend the 60th anniversary of King of Thailand's accession to the throne, RTB reported.

On arrival at the Royal Thai Airforce Base, Their Majesties were welcomed by HRH Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, Thailand's Crown Prince and HRH Princess Srirasmi.

Accompanying Their Majesties are HRH Princess Hjh Muta Wakkilah Hayatul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hjh Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah and HRH Princess Hjh Hafizah Sururul Bulqiah. Also in His Majesty's entourage is HRH Princess Hjh Masna.

Their Majesties were introduced to Thailand's State representative, Ambassador of Thailand to Brunei, representative of the Commander of the Royal Thai Air Force, security officers and senior officers.

Among those present at the airport was Brunei's Ambassador to Thailand, Pg Dato Hj Sharifuddin and Datin.

His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej was crowned as King of Thailand on June 9, 1946 to succeed His Majesty's elder brother King Ananda Mahidol.

Various events have been arranged for this year's celebration including a welcoming ceremony for the Thai King's guests today, a royal procession on Tuesday and a State Banquet.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is among 12 monarchs and heads of state attending the ceremony. Thirteen other countries have sent their representatives. - Borneo Bulletin (12th June 2006)
