Sultan at sacrificial ceremony

A sacrificial ceremony for His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and members of the royal family, in conjunction with the feast of sacrifice, was held yesterday at the Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque in Kg Kiarong following the Aidil Adha prayer.

Also present at the ceremony were HRH Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, HRH Prince Abdul Azim, HRH Prince Abdul Malik and HRH Prince Abdul Mateen.

A total of 14 sheep and 34 cows were sacrificed at the ceremony. Among them, seven sheep were sacrificed in the presence of Sultan and members of the royal family. The remaining animals were sacrificed at the Mulaut Abattoir slaughterhouse.

The meat was then distributed to some 4,351 poor and needy individuals, with 2,672 from Brunei-Muara District, 594 from Tutong District, 831 from Belait District and 254 from Temburong District.

Meanwhile, at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, His Majesty distributed boxes of meat to 20 recipients from Brunei-Muara District. - Borneo Bulletin (12th Jan 2006)
