His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam joined the rakyat in performing the sunat Aidil Adha prayer at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Bandar Seri Begawan. It was in conjunction with the Islamic celebration observed by the nation Wednesday.
His Majesty was greeted on arrival by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Dato Seri Utama Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Mohd. Zain, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Important Events in the Islamic Calendar and other committee members. His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Azim; His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen also performed the sunnat Aidil Adha prayer.
Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Yahya led the congregation in performing the highly commendable prayer. The Aidil Adha sermon was delivered by Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin. The sermon, among other things highlighted that under the wise rule of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang DI-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the nation lives in harmony and peace regardless of race or religion. The nation is obliged as commanded by Allah the Almighty to be loyal to the ruler, the Ulil Amri. The Aidil Adha prayer was held at all mosques and prayer halls in the country.
