Tutong readies for royal get-together

With only days to go before the arrival of the monarch's 60th birthday, all four districts are busy gearing up for the grand celebration on July 15.

Preparation works in Tutong District are currently in full swing with the district set to celebrate a get-together with His Majesty on July 17.

The venue for the grand celebration will be the field facing the Kompleks Dewan Kemasyarakat.

Thirty-five booths will be erected for an exhibition, and cultural shows will be staged during the get-together.

The placement of neon lights, flags and banners are omnipresent throughout the district. Meanwhile, the construction of arches along the route leading to the royal dais has been completed.

Numerous activities have been lined-up to mark the royal celebration, among them stage shows by students, association members, private sector personnel and the ethnic community of Tutong District.

According to the celebrations committee, around 30,000 people are expected to turn up at the July 17 celebration to pay tribute to His Majesty. - Borneo Bulletin (11th July 2006)
