The Sultan's Birthday Celebration Committee for the Tutong District held its first meeting yesterday to discuss the proposed events for the celebrations as well as the election of new executive committee members and chairpersons for His Majesty's 60th Birthday celebration this year.
The chairman of the committee, Tutong Distict Officer Awg Abdul Mutalib Hj Idris highlighted that His Majesty would be turning 60 this year and that the Tutong District would like to contribute a little more to celebrate this special age.
Some of the highlights mentioned were the presentation of "Pasambah" to be bought with money collected from the Tutong District residents, the construction of a monument, a permanent Royal Dais which is to be built from February, flag hoisting from July 1, and the compiling of pictures and information about His Majesty and the Royal Family since 1960. Held at the Dewan Kemasyarakatan Complex in the Tutong District, the meeting was also attended by senior government officers in the Tutong District.
