Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha yesterday consented to officiate an exhibition at The Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong.

The expo - which deals with the sale of plants, ornamental flowers and farm tools - is held to coincide with the official launch of the Cleanliness, Landscape and Live Flower competition.

Jointly organised by the Women's Institute and the Department of Environment, Recreation and Parks, the exhibition boasts 47 booths displaying an assortment of live flowers for sale on Level 4 of the hotel.

Booth operator Juriah Haji Kadir said she was delighted to be able to have the opportunity to exhibit her local orchids to the public.

The 41-year-old from Sengkurong - who runs a small enterprise named Syarikat Napisah bte Daud Seri Gapor dan Anak-Anak - added that the opportunity was made possible through the Department of Environment, Recreation and Parks.

She believes that through the expo, the public - particularly the youths - would be better enlightened on the subject of flowers, and that such events should be held on a regular basis.

The public is welcome to check out the expo today and tomorrow, between 10 am and 5 pm. - Borneo Bulletin (11th August 2006)
