Brunei-Muara, Tutong will battle for tug-of-war honour

The national-level tug-of-war competition, in conjunction with His Majesty's 60th birthday celebrations, took place yesterday at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium at the Gadong Police Headquarters.

The Brunei-Muara District team emerged as champions in Category A, in which each player must not exceed 70kg in weight.

Another Brunei-Muara District team won the Category C title, whereby the combined weight of all players in the team should not surpass 1,300kg.

Meanwhile, the title for Category B - where the total team weight should not go over 1,900kg - will be decided on July 23, during His Majesty's "get-together" with the "rakyat" in the Brunei-Muara District. The final will be contested by the Brunei-Muara District and the Tutong District teams.

The guest of honour at the competition yesterday was the head of the Adat Istiadat, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Hj Abd Aziz. Also present were the Police Commissioner Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Zainuddin bin Jalani, and the Brunei-Muara District Officer Hj Mohd Yussof bin Hj. Abu Bakar.

Prizes to the second-, third- and fourth-place winners were later presented by the guest of honour. Meanwhile, the champions will receive their prizes on July 23.
