Clerk to Legislative Council

YDM Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Judin bin Haji Asar.

His Majesty during his 58th birthday titah last year announced for the Legislative Council to be revitalised after it was suspended in 1984. In September 2004, 21 members were appointed and later the first meeting of the Legislative Council was convened.

The Legislative Council has now been increased to 29 members.

The Constitution of Brunei Darussalam (Amendment) Proclamation 2004 that was signed last year by His Majesty has facilitated for an increase in the number of members to 45 to further invigorate the exchange of views from different interest groups and sectors of the society. It also provides for the allocation of 15 elected members from the four districts in the country. - Borneo Bulletin (1st September 2005)
