The first meeting of the Belait District Executive Committee for His Majesty's 59th Birthday was held yesterday. The meeting was chaired by the Belait District Officer, Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yussof bin Bakar, and discussed financial reports, accounts for government finances as well as the committee's financial fund.
The meeting also saw change of executive members and the appointment and selection of new chairpersons for this year's performances.
Other agenda discussed included the suggestion to change the style and format of the celebrations.
Celebrations usually held in the district include get-togethers between His Majesty and the people, 'Malam Gemerlapan', night stage performances, tug-of-war, water festival, arts and handicraft competition and show, cooking contests, healthy children competition and lighting competition for government buildings and individual houses.
Other interesting events include radio-control boats competition, cleaning and landscaping competition, art and photography competition, chess competition, plays, agriculture exhibitions, martial arts performance and many more.
The meeting also discussed the places and areas to be used during His Majesty's arrival for the festive celebrations in the district in July this year.
