His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Deputy Sultan yesterday morning paid a working visit to a directorate at the Ministry of Defence in Bolkiah Garrison.
On hand to greet the Deputy Sultan were Acting Minister of Defence Pehin Datu Singamanteri Col (Rtd) Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yasmin Hj Umar, Acting Royal Brunei Armed Forces Commander Col (U) Dato Hj Mahmud Hj Saidin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Awg Hj Mustappa Hj Sirat as well as senior officials of the Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office Dato Awg Hj Sulaiman Hj Ismail was also present during the working visit.
The Deputy Sultan first consented to visit the Directorate of Development and Work Services, where he was briefed by the department's director, Pg Hj Menudin Pg Lela Wijaya Pg Hj Yussof, on the directorate's organisational structure, roles and functions, including the estate management under the Ministry of Defence.
HRH, at the end of the briefing, queried on projects handled by the directorate that were problematic and how these problems were addressed and the means adopted to dispose of equipment and utensils that were no longer in use.
Pg Hj Menudin, in response, briefed the royal visitor on the efforts undertaken to address them.
After the briefing, the Deputy Sultan consented to tour various sections under the directorate as well as the facilities available while being briefed on the roles and functions of respective units.
Yesterday morning's working visit to the Directorate of Development and Work Services by the Deputy Sultan showed his understanding of the department as one of the vital defence agencies under the Ministry of Defence.
The visit also acted as a catalyst to encourage government servants, including military and civilian personnel of the Ministry of Defence, to take on their duties and responsibilities with more commitment and dedication.
