Sultan visits Tutong District

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning consented to make a surprise visit to the Tutong District.

Arriving at the Tutong District Office, His Majesty was greeted by the Assistant Tutong District Officer, Awg Wardi bin Hj Mohammad Ali. His Majesty then visited the Keriam Primary School.

Next on the itinerary was the 'Balai Raya' or Community Hall of Kg Keriam, followed by the businesses located nearby as well as the Bukit Panggal Primary School. The Acting Tutong District Officer, Awg Mutalib bin Hj Idris, accompanied His Majesty from the Keriam Primary School onwards. His Majesty mingled with teachers, students and officers at the places that were visited.

A government facility located in Kg Sinaut also welcomed His Majesty. The Resource Centre and Standards, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, which provides assistance to budding entrepreneurs, was toured and inspected by the monarch.

Nearby, His Majesty stopped at the Sinaut Primary School and inspected the classes and facilities there.

His Majesty also inspected all the floors at a three-storey teachers' flat.

His Majesty proceeded to the Maraburong Prison, the country's second prison built under the 7th National Development Plan.

Wrapping up the visit, His Majesty went to the Prison Department Housing Flat in Kg Kupang and inspected the accommodation for officers and personnel. - Borneo Bulletin (14th Apr 2005)
