Crown Prince meets S'pore leaders

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Pg Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah on Wednesday night attended a dinner given in their honour on the occasion of their official visit to the Republic of Singapore, RTB reported yesterday.

The reception was hosted by the President of Singapore, Mr S R Nathan and wife, at the Istana. Prior to the dinner, His Royal Highness called on the Minister Mentor of Singapore, Mr Lee Kuan Yew at the Istana. His Royal Highness was accompanied by Prince Abdul Qawi.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah later consented to make a courtesy call on the President of Singapore and his wife. Prince Abdul Qawi was also present.

Among the dignitaries attending the dinner were Singapore's Defence Minister, Rear Admiral Teo Chee Hean and Mrs Teo, and National Development Minister Mr Mah Bow Tan and Mrs Mah.

Yesterday, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah began their itinerary with a visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness consented to attend a breakfast hosted by Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean and his wife. The function was held at the Burkhill Hall, Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Their Royal Highnesses were then escorted on a guided tour of the Gardens whilst being briefed on the park's profile and its current development.

The highlight of yesterday's programme was a call on the Prime Minister of Singapore and an audience with the Senior Minister. His Royal Highness the Crown Prince first made a call on the Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Lee Hsien Loong. The call took place at the Istana.

His Royal Highness then consented to receive in audience the Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. It was also held at the Istana.

Meanwhile Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah consented to tour the Singapore Art Museum. Her Royal Highness was greeted on arrival by the Director of the Singapore Art Museum, Mr Kwok Kian Chow.

In the afternoon, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah consented to attend a luncheon hosted by Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and wife. Prince Abdul Qawi was also present at the luncheon, which took place at a well-known hotel in Singapore. - Borneo Bulletin (11th Mar 2005)
