A meeting was held yesterday to discuss preparations for His Majesty's 59th Birthday celebrations for the Temburong District, at the Dewan Muafakat, Temburong District Office in Bangar Town.
Present at the meeting was Pehin Dato Paduka Awg Hj Adanan, the Minister of Home Affairs.
Also present was Pehin Dato Paduka Awg Hj Dani bin Hj Ibrahim, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Yusoff bin Hj Ismail, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Pg Abd Haris bin Pg Hj Shahbudin, the Acting Temburong District Officer and Chairman of the High Working Committee for His Majesty's 59th birthday celebration for the Temburong District.
In his welcoming speech, Pehin Dato Paduka Awg Hj Adanan said the meeting was part of a series of working visits held in conjunction with His Majesty's 59th birthday celebration. The Minister added that the purpose of the meeting was to hear and examine the preparations and latest developments that have been or are being implemented by the working committees for the celebration, especially for His Majesty's visit to the Temburong District for the get-together ceremony with the Rakyat in the District.
The meeting also enabled the exchange of views and thoughts in efforts to better the quality of performances for a more perfect and joyous occasion of His Majesty 59th birthday celebration, said Pehin Dato Paduka Awg Hj Adanan.
The Minister urged all levels of the working committees to work together in developing, implementing and improving whatever events that have been arranged.
Pehin Hj Adanan acknowledged that the high working committees of the celebration had held a 'post-mortem' to examine and identify whatever shortages transpired during previous events, and he fully believed the working committees would be able to improve situations.
The Minister also urged the committees to develop events that would be attractive to the public especially those involving the youths.
He also asked that any events that are traditional in nature such as the traditional boat race should be continued, so that those traditional events would not disappear.
Pehin Hj Adanan called on members of the public and private sectors as well as associations and volunteer groups to participate in making the celebration a grand and joyous event.
The Minister concluded his remarks by announcing that the National Flag Hoisting ceremony to mark the start of events held in conjunction with His Majesty's 59th birthday celebration will take place on 1st July 2005, at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital.
Pehin Hj Adanan also urged private individuals and dignitaries as well as public buildings and private offices to raise the national and private flags on the same day. The flags should be taken off on 31st July 2005.
